Insomnia post #324

It's amazing what a little bit of sleep will do for your mood. I loathe insomnia. She is the bitch that lurks in the shadows, just waiting for me to feel confident and with-it. An attack of insomnia leaves me feeling weak and disabled. Pathetic and disgusting. Sigh...

After a full 7 hours last night (HALLELEUJAH!) I awoke with EN.ER.GY. and was able to have a moderately decent day with the kids. Corinne had ballet, we scavenged the library, and I managed to NOT strangle Justin over the Algebra work that he "didn't get."

"But what does the "x" MEAN?!? I don't understand! Why not just say 10 instead of 10x?!? This is too hard!!"

insert much gnashing of my teeth as I struggled to not wring his neck...

Anyway, all 3 are still alive and playing Star Wars on the Xbox with some friends. The snow IS sticking (yay!) so we may have a fun break tomorrow afternoon and try to hit the snow hill. We'll see.

However, it WAS only 7 hours of sleep, so this is the extent of my writing ability tonight. My apologies for the lack of scintillating adjectives, but you can check out my giveaways (some new ones are up) on my review blog. Toodles.

No matter how many hours of sleep I got, I don't know how I'd begin to teach algebra. Hope you guys have that fun day tomorrow!

I love waking up energized...although its a pretty rare thing!
I sucked at Math...I am dreading the day my daughter brings home homework with formulas like x+y=10x-1!!!

I had that week (or 2) with my 9yo and fractions. "But I don't get it! Why would I WANT to make an imperfect fraction. That CAN'T be the answer!!"

And yes, sleep is a marvelous thing.

I just reconnected with one of my favorite math teachers on FB and begged her to send me some algebra word problems (not kidding). With all the Elmo I absorb, my math synapses are absolute mush. Of course, it could be the sleep deprivation ... Hang in there!

I feel ya. The baby only got up once last night. Woo freakin hoo!

And I always blew off my math homework too. Can't blame the kid, math sucks. lol

Thanks Tracy for visiting my blog! I really appreciate it! I'm from Illinois too, and I'm very interested in following your adventures in home schooling. I'll be keeping my eye on your blog! It's wonderful!

I've had terrible insomnia lately. Maybe there's something in the air. Glad you got some sleep. And I'm with mep, no amount of sleep would make me an effective algebra teacher. Now History of Movies I could teach in my sleep. Is that part of the curriculum?

I am not looking forward to my daughter taking Algebra. I'm crossing my fingers she did not inherit my math genes...or lack thereof.

So glad to hear you were able to find some sleep. Hope you get a repeat performance tonight!

I have paranoia induced insomnia.

For some reason, I am still convinced that the baby will wake up every 2 hours, even though he now sleeps through the night...so I stay up and wait for him to wake up.

He doesn't...until 6am...when I am just going to bed.
