What I'm Doing Right Now, Not That You Asked Or Even Care

Ok. So I crawled under the drapes and screen of the swanky hotel room I'm staying in to see what kind of view I have from my room. And, shockingly enough, it's a Nice View.

Imagine that! A nice view in a fancy hotel room.

I digress.

I pulled out my camera and began to take some shots because, DUH. I'm in a hotel room by myself; what else would I do with my time?? Naturally, I had the flash on because I'm not a camera whiz. And naturally this made my eyes bug out from the reflective glare. So I'm sitting beside the window, having just flashed the entire cross-section of State and Chestnut when I look up and notice a man in the building across from mine. He is obviously disgusted by the tourist who is taking pictures of his building while she is in a HOTEL.

How do I know that he's disgusted?

Because he's shaking his head and looking directly at me.

How can I see him?

Because he has every flippin light on in his apartment.

Word to the city folk: If you don't want people to see what you're doing in your home, GET A PRIVACY SHADE. You are not living in a vacuum! We can all see what you're doing!!

Obviously, I had to stay and peep out the window a bit longer to see who else was up and about, flaunting their night life for all of the intersection to witness. Sure enough, dozens and dozens of homes were illuminated for my viewing enjoyment!

Arguing, middle-aged couple in pajamas? Check.

Little kid sitting on the kitchen counter at 10 pm? Check.

Way too many people watching tv or on the computer? Check.

I can see why one needn't ever leave the big city for vacations. The cure for boredom exists outside of every window...

If I don't change it, is it really lying?

I wanted to write a comment on a BlogHer post but needed to log in and forgot my log in info. Soooooo, I did the whole rigamarole of asking for the password to be reset, yadda yadda yadda. Long story short (or IS it?), I reset the info and password and just happened to glance upon my "About me" info. When I read it, I nearly choked on my Aldi wine.

And I quote:

Chicagoland girl for my whole life, which just so happens to be 30 years. Wife, Mom of 3, like to rave over my children and laugh at myself. Pretty basic gal.

Did you catch it?

Did you?

"..30 years." As in, I was 30 when I wrote that. Is that possible? I looked again and, sure enough, 2007 was my sign up date.

2007.

I had to look at my archives to confirm this and choked on my wine again; I have been blogging since May of 2006.

2006!

Shouldn't I have a book or something by now? 5 years in the blog world equates to 36 years in the Real World. I am so old that I remember when some Really Big Bloggers were just wee sprouts, writing about their lives without hundreds (or thousands) of people hanging on their every word. And yet I still remain at approximately the same size I've always been. While that may be a good thing for my waistline, it doesn't make me feel extremely accomplished in the Blog Universe, you know what I mean?

Granted, I know why this is. I don't spend nearly enough time networking and responding on time isn't always my top priority. I write when I feel compelled, not when a calendar or deadline dictates and lately, my compulsion to write has been slightly lacking.

Still. 5 years and never a gigantic break.

Sigh....

Also, that whole "30 years old" thing kind of looped me over. I am turning 35 in less than a month. Closer to 40 than 30. Closer to 50 than 20. Closer to death than birth!

And so I pour another cheap glass of wine and ponder life and its meanings or lack thereof. I consider drunk tweeting and think that this is a brilliant way to commemorate such a revelation as today's. Or not. Drunk Tweeting is a double edged sword...

I shall consider it.

Gewurztraminer *

8:37 pm Central

It's been a looooooong time since I've had too much wine and blogged. My apologies.

Thankfully, due to a big ole bottle from my mother in law (HI!) that will soon be remedied.

This is some good shit, G. Muchas gracias.

Justin just asked for candy.

At 8:30 at night.

I said yes.

We all like Mommy after wine...

Issa is encouraging me to entertain everyone on Twitter. Methinks that is a dangerous direction to go in. On? In? Which direction?

Eh?

sip sip

This damn spacebar is still busted. If I were to type without fixing every other word, it would look like this:

Four score and seven tyears ago our forefathers broughtforth unto thsi constinent a newnation.Conceived in liberty and dedicated to a propositionof some sort that all men are created equal butnotwomen until we fightreally hard and getwhatwedeserve in equal rights.

:)

* My wine. Yummy. Alllll goooonnneee... Sadness. Angry eyes.

Rum and Coke

Damn. In just one hour on Twitter I proclaimed to someone I find hilarious that I am funnier on my blog than on Twitter and also to convince Steve Martin follow me.

I need to watch my liquor intake a little more carefully. Curse you Coke in a bottle and adorable little mini Rum bottles!!

Edited to add:

Ok, now wait a minute. I KNOW there are lots of people I read and that read me that I don't have on Twitter. People, do me a favor; tell me your twitter handle! Please? I need help. Lots of people have told me they didn't know I was on Twitter. How is that possible?!?
