Why I was in my jammies at 10 am...

Yet another morning of awakening between an elbow and a knee. A morning of finding myself extra toasty warm from the bodies of Evan and Corinne pressed beside me. Just one more instance in which I savored the moment and stayed under the covers a liiiittttle bit longer... It's so easy to appreciate all of their individual quirks annoyances when their bodies are still and their mouths are SHUT. I know that these mornings will become fewer and further between until, one day, there are no small children who have bad dreams in my house; no little brains that continue working well after the day is done, causing nightmares* and shadows and monsters to appear. When their first response isn't to turn to me in the middle of the night....

So, though I may grumble about my lack of privacy and exposure to 3 growing kids, 24/7 (and I DO mean 24/7), I honestly adore mornings like today's....

*Evan's most recent nightmares? One involved his sister running down the street during a bad storm, and he couldn't get to her in time. The other one had TWO Corinnes: One good, One Evil.**

** Soooo.... two nightmares in one week revolving around his little sister. Should I be worried?

I enjoy it too- until mornings like today when the two in diapers BOTH peed in my bed. Well, good morning to you too!

Oh, I look so forward to thunderstorms and the girls all running into our bed.

I know I only have one girl now, but we plan on having a large brood.

Awww, sweet big brother. He's looking out for her, even in his dreams!

Our girls like to climb into our bed.

At first it was only Kate but we kicked her out (We did it nicely, I promise.) when Lily was born. Lily does have a crib in our room but if (I should say when...) she wakes up she ends up in our bed because I don't even make an effort to stay awake while nursing her. Emma has been waking up in the middle of the night, crying for me, so I just have her come into bed with us and Kate, though she usually stays in her own bed, sometimes comes in and curls up wherever she can wedge herself in. It's a little crowded with five of us but I wouldn't pass these nights up for anything.

I love the morning snuggles too. They will be shortlived, this I know, so I try to cherish them.

Poor boy, he has some worries about his little sister eh? :)

That is really sweet. I wish my son would snuggle with us, but as soon as he comes in our bed he starts crawling all over us wanting to play (which doesn't make for a very relaxing sleep)!

Sounds like you're making some great memories (and getting to sleep in at the same time).

Our bed is like a game of musical chairs with kids in and out of it all night. I complain about it, but I also love the feeling of having one of them snuggled up close.

my older kids don't have nightmares so they don't crawl in bed with me during the night but they have on Saturday mornings and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!

My daughter won't sleep with me. A few times when she was sick or woke up in the night, I've actually tried to bring her into our bed and she wouldn't sleep. Maybe when we start opening her door for her to roam freely, a day will come where she climbs in with us. I kinda hope so.

PS - Did I see on Twitter that you won some weekend with a Chevy thing?

Being in your PJs at 10:00 a.m. is awesome. Even better if someone brings you coffee.

We're getting ready for kinder so I'm already feeling like the day my boys won't be "boys" anymore is right around the corner. You keep those jammies on and own them! By the way, try whispering in your son's ear (when he's asleep) that Mommy and Daddy are going to take care of sister. Best

How cute. I love mornings like that too. My son does not sleep with us but sometimes in the morning I'll lay down with him and we'll snuggle a bit. He's a cuddler and I will miss that so much when he's all grown up.

Cara,

Yes! I get to test drive a Chevy something or other. Pretty cool, especially since I have a blogging trip coming up and I'm going to try and coordinate the two!

I cannot wait until Leila is old enough to sneak into our bed in the mornings! And when she does I will be in my pjs all day, if she wants to :-)

It is sad to realize that one day we won't be the ones they turn to when they have bad dreams. I woke up this morning with my 6 year old on one side and my 7 month old on the other. Although it is sweet in the morning, I do like it when they sleep all night in their own beds!

That is beyond sweet that he had a nightmare that he could not get to his sister. It's awuful that he is having nightmares but so great that he worries about his sister so much.

My daughter's nightmare probably would have involved her actually being able to catch her brother in a time of need :)

I've never had the wee ones crawl into my bed. I'm generally very grateful for the privacy and respect for my sleep, but then I think about what fun it would be to be able to cuddle with them like that... enjoy it while you can.

And the nightmares? I'm always amazed by where our brains take us!
