I have an appointment at the dermatologist this morning to hopefully remove a mole from my back. And it WILL be a normal mole. And the skin discoloration that surrounds it will NOT be melanoma. I will keep chanting this mantra...
I've neglected this for far too long. I knew about it last summer. And did nothing. I blamed it on pregnancy, as I wouldn't have been able to "do" anything about it at that point, anyway. Right? Anyway. I neglected it. I'm taking care of it now.
PLEASE pray that it's not anything bad. Or that if it is, it's totally centered on one spot and no other issues to worry about...

Will be keeping you in my prayers that this is just a mole and nothing else! Please update when you find out!
hi there thinking of you and chanting right along with you! they usually are able to be removed and that is the end of it, sending you hugs!
Prayers your way....
I have had all kinds of skin cancer. What you just described sounds like a basal cell carcinoma, nothing to worry about unless you did let it grow. I have had many of them. Just continue to see the dermatologist once a year for a skin check. Skin cancer is usually really slow growing so they will pick those up before they get to be a problem. AND use spf all the time!
I'm back.
The one on my back is ok, actually. It's called a Halo Nevus. Just a fancy name for a regular mole that has a ring around it, I guess. I'm gonna check into it further later on.
But I DO have to have one removed off of my stomach that is suspicious. HOWEVER they were running so behind that I didn't actually see the Dr for an hour and half past my appt time and she said it would be at least another half hour before they could get into take off the other mole! And I had the baby with me (who was doing quite well, but I wasn't pushing my luck anymore).
Thanks for the prayers and wishes.
Glad to hear the one on your back was nothing. If they really thought the one on your stomach was really bad they would have been more insistent that you stay and have it removed, I bet. Hope it's ok too.
Every dermaguy I have ever been to is packed and late all the time. What is up with that? Shortage of skin drs?
Glad to hear it was nothing, and it sounds like Andria has some good experience for you about the other one. Here's hoping for more good news!
Oh man! My husband just went through a similar scare and it turned out to be benign! Praying.
So glad it turned out to be ok. I'm sure the one on your stomach will be fine as well. They are very easily removed (I had one in an...odd place and it was fine). Sounds like a good plan to get out of there with the baby though - Docs offices are rough. And I think we all neglected some aspect of our health during pregnancy. You can only deal with so much at one time.
glad you're back and you know that the mole on your back is okay (but has definitely got a fancy name-- sounds a bit like a comet!). let us know when you go in for the one on your stomach, though...
thanks for letting me know that you, too, saw the chicken! i knew i wasn't crazy! ...or at least i was hoping so. :-)
