Mommy, why do I have to die?

Oh man... This is what Evan just walked in and asked me. Poor baby had a sad sad look on his face. And I just explained (as I always do) that dying is just our bodies not working anymore and our souls going to heaven. "Will I be the first to die?" he then asked. Oh man....

Howdy! I tag you with the letter "D"! I feel the same way as your child sometimes: Do I have to die? and other times I say "Just let me diiiie!" :)

Oh wow what a tough question to get from your child!

We go through the death questions daily with my oldest. My neice passed away in September and the "old people wear out" explanation we used when my favorite aunt died, now thoroughly confuses him. Doesn't it just make your stomach hurt to hear him ask that?

When my son's three year old preschool class hamster died, ds was as distraught as his classmates until he thought of something: "Don't worry," he said, "Buddy will come back in three days."
Things have gotten much more complicated since then - he's now five. I don't expect it to get any easier . . .
