Spangler family (below) are gathering together with other Illinois farmers on
www.watchusgrow.org to answer your questions and provide the information you need to make educated decisions regarding your food choices
before you arrive at the grocery store.
In fact, this group is so interested in getting each and every one of you involved, that they have started a fun activity for your shopping trips! Bring your iPhone or Android phone with you to the grocery store to take 5 pictures using Instagram to enter the
Farmtastic Food Trek and a chance to win tons of prizes including
$500 in groceries!!

There are
15 questions to choose from, and all of them are fairly easy to answer. August 15 through September 30, all you have to do is take a picture of your child holding the proper food, label the Instagram photo with the hashtag #foodtrek, and voila! You are entered! (

What an amazing idea! I live out in wine country in California (Santa Barbara county) and I'm blessed to live in a place where we have many organic farms.
I think being a mom has made me more responsible with what we buy for our family. I'm always reading labels, buying things in the perimeter of the grocery store instead of the aisles, or simply growing my own crops in my small home. Being more conscious about this helped me go from obese to super fit.
I think I may approach my local farms here and see if they'd be interested in running a similar program for families in our community
What a great idea. Lots of moms think about healthy eating but I love the responsible spin family food.
