Memories came flooding back at me yesterday. We spent the day with Patrick's family for his grandma's birthday. Beautiful day, but very windy. His grandma enjoys watching the kids play, and she is rapidly becoming older every day. But to see her happiness over having us around is so sweet. And to see the brief moments of tenderness from my boys, who are finally understanding that she can't hear them or understand them very well is very heartwarming.
We arrived home and spent the rest of the day outside. Backyard with friends, then front yard with new friends. I weeded the front yard again of thistles. Joy... Anyway, I watched Justin play with the neighborhood kids. First, selling lemonade (well, rather, he was free help as he yelled it across the streets and put a sign on his scooter handles), then riding to the park together (ah, Daddy went with. He is still too young in my opinion to go by himself) and then riding at dark ("in the street, Mommy!") on a neighbor's ramps with his scooter. He now wants a ramp. In fact, he said that if he got a ramp, he wouldn't want to play bideo games anymore. Yeah right. But still...
They were all bribed to come inside when Daddy got home with Oberweis ice cream for all. For those outside of Chicagoland, Oberweis is a local ice cream/dairy store that is THE BEST ice cream I've ever had. But it's sooooo expensive, that it's a rare treat. I had a banana shake... yummmmmm.....
Ok. Kind of dull writing. Sorry bout that. But Corinne is standing beside me pooping as I type. Sigh.. Motherhood is so glamorous.

Mmmmm Oberweis!!! I make my brother take me there everytime I'm in town!!! Love it!
LOL! Got a chuckle ~ pooping is never dull :-)
i like their ice cream too but agree it is expensive so it is a rare treat!
AH yes, we mommies have such a glamorous job. Ha.
love that last paragraph! ha ha! We all know that special time. ;)
By the way, every time I come to your page and see that picture of you at the top, I think you look like Amanda Peet.
Sounds like fun! It makes me miss my grandma. My boys were ALWAYS so tender and gentle with her. They were patient in a way I've never seen them be with each other. Aren't those moments great! I LOVE your picture header! I want one! LOL
Then I consider myself downright lucky that back home there's a little country store that serves hand dipped ice cream for a buck. It's like Christmas when I go to visit and she has banana pudding ice cream in stock. Best stuff in the entire world!
Sounds like a perfect summer day to me... well, maybe not the pooping, but still!
We don't have any great ice cream around here, makes me miss my college days when we would drive up to the local dairy and get the best ice cream cones!
Speaking of memories...:)
I've never heard of Oberweis. I think I'll have to find out if there's one near the hotel on my next layover. :-)

Have yet to hear about Oberweis. I should try it. Right now, I am just limited to the Spiderman popsicle, which my 4-year old insists I buy all the time.
