Blue really isn't my favorite color anymore...

Forget the groundhog; ask me what the weather will be like. I'll tell you: cold and windy and wintry and blustery... If I am pulling my head back into my hidey hole, then you can be rest assured that winter is winning for several more months...

It's at this time of the year that you will find me forcing myself into activities. I sign up for events and outings knowing full well that I will NOT want to go, no matter how much awesomeness the eventbrite ticket proclaims, because it will be frigid and blacker than midnight by 5:00. Nothing causes me to curl into a ball faster than the darkness of winter. No milk or bread or fruit or veggies? I guess I can go to the store and get some... but wait! The sun has set. You are gonna have to make do with some tea and stale crackers for dinner, or maybe we can make mac-n-cheese with water and butter? Because I don't go out in the winter night easily... If you have seen me recently at a blogger event or child activity, know that I had to physically force myself to get ready. Know that I spent quite a bit of time convincing myself that going WAS a good idea and that I HAD TO follow through because I hate it when people cancel at the last minute...

Thank God for Listen To Your Mother preparations and the kids' lessons. Without gymnastics and karate and our co-ops, I wouldn't get out of the house for days and days. I SWEAR TO YOU. It has happened before. I love wintertime, I truly do; but there are aspects about it that I have never gotten used to...

Currently, my home is beyond messy. Beyond cluttered. It is even, I am embarrassed to admit, dirty. There isn't a single room or space or nook that I can look to and exclaim "This! This right here? Totally clean! This closet/bathroom/bedroom/WALL is clean." And it's overwhelming, you know?

Wah wah wah. My little problems in my little world with so very little sunshine and vitamin D. I'm chugging some fortified orange juice right now and sitting by my front window, hoping that the reflection of sun from the snow will be enough of a boost to encourage me to not only CLEAN SOMETHING but to also happily engage the kids in their schoolwork instead of just trudge through it.

I hate February. Have I said this before?

Oh yeah... I have.

Right there with ya!! I can't wait until the kids and I can get outside and soak up some sun. I get into such a funk in the winter time. I cannot wait until Spring!
