Stuff.

Whew.... Ever have a night that ends up going a direction that you DID NOT expect? Patrick and I went out for dinner last night, just to Chili's, just for the heck of it, without the kids. We ended up having one of those soul-searching, gut-wrenching, emotional conversations. The good kind, no doubt; one that will help us to grow and communicate better, but still? Emotionally and physically draining... We covered a lot of stuff. Stuff that I won't go into, but stuff that is important for every couple to discuss. We came to a lot of agreements over changes for both of us...

I am so grateful to be married to him. To be married to a man that (although he might not know it) communicates better than most men I've heard of.

The boys are still at Grandma's house (overnighter) and we just got back from the mall with Corinne. I'm going to surf the web and eat my leftover fajitas from Chili's and let my brain rest from my own life for a while...

My husband and I recently had one of those conversations and it's odd for us because my husband likes to keep everything inside... so when it all comes out it is completely gut wrenchind and exhausting.

But totally necessary.

We are getting a Chili's here. I am very excited!

Sounds like a really good night! I have one of those "talks" in my near future--it's been a while!

"Those talks" are always good to have once and awhile. And if you can have it at Chili's over fajitas and a few beers (at least, I'd be drinking a few beers) then all the better. We usually have one once or twice a year - always good to get caught up on the same page.

That is great. We have those talks every once in a while, and although tiring, is so worthwhile. Enjoy your fajitas!

Hmmm. Perhaps I didn't specify that I was unaware that this talk was coming about and ended up crying an awful lot last night... It really should have been at home, as I think I may have spoiled several people's dinners...

Hmm... given your post and then your comment here, it sounds that while needed, this conversation really affected you. I hope you were able to sort things out, and that you're feeling better now.

We've had crying (just me) conversations though not in public. I hope everything is ok now and you aren't crying anymore.

I love conversations like that... they don't happen often here, but when they do, it's almost a cleansing sort of feeling. Does that make sense?

Those are the best kinds. It makes you feel so appreciative to be with the one you love.

Sometimes you just need to have those conversations. It's hard, but there will be good results so it's all worth it.

So healthy to have those talks. They need to be done. Marriage maintenance and so on.
Glad you got a night away. :)

Those are the tough conversations, but if both people can work through them with good communication, so much good can come from them.

I'm glad you had what ended up being a good conversation, even if you were crying over your meal.

Those are hard, hey? We have been having a number of those discussions lately and I always feel so drained after. I hope that you are both feeling better and closer now.

Sometimes those unexpected talks turn out to be the most meaningful because they are truly from the heart, no time to rehearse what you're going to say sort of thing. Things have a way of building up over time. It seems like it's always better to get whatever it is off your chest, rather than burying deep inside. Hope you're feeling better!

I think those impromtu conversations, tears and all, are often the best ones we have with our spouses. All is laid out, with no foreward thinking about how to phrase things properly or worrying about what the other will think.

I'm glad you and Patrick were able to do this. Even in public over dinner.

My husband and I had one of those a couple weeks ago. I think they make you stronger as a couple.

Yeah.. we don't have those. Ever never not ever at all.

Glad you do though :)
