And we're off!

Off to Justin's evaluation today. Going to find out if there are any letters we can put after his name, and what we need to do about them.

Question: how do you politely tell a new neighbor kid that he canNOT open your screen door and just shout "Hey!" if he wants to ask the boys over? Also, how do I politely say that while it's nice that the boys can go and play over there, I'd rather we divided up the houses more evenly. I'm used to the boys playing in our yard more often, and it's REALLY strange to have hours and hours without them here... Yes, they can be stressful, but they're my KIDS and I kinda like them, ya know...

Good luck, an I hope all goes well.

As for the neighbor boy - remind him that it isn't his house, and your house rules are that he knocks or rings the doorbell, and does not open your door unless invited in.

Good luck today.

Um, lock your screen door? Tell your boys you'd like them to play in your yard today, but the neighbor is more than welcome to join them.

Good luck today! I hope it all goes well!!

I don't know what to tell you about the neighbor kid... I have kind of a similar thing, except I don't want my son to play with this boy. He is a liar. I hate to say that about anyone, but he lies about everything. We have caught him in so many lies while he's been at our home. Then, my son starts to tell lies and I just want to scream... :S

I hope you get more of a definitive answer than we did with Jake . . .

I can sympathize with your situation. The kids across the street actually come into our house without asking. I had to have a talk with them.

Good luck with your evaluation Tracey. Hope it gives you guys some good answers and solutions.

Sounds to me like the way you described the neighbor issues was pretty polite. Tell him/them how it is, just like you described it for us. You are tactful, right? :)

I totally understand wanting the kids to play in your yard. I am like that as well. I'm sure you will figure it out with what to do about the door and stuff!

Hope you got some answers at the eval!

Keep your screen door locked and force him to knock :) If that's not an option just explain to him that we knock before opening other people's doors.

Yep, lock that door. Also:
"The boys are playing at home today. We would love for you to play here today, too!"
