We party with towels and knives!!

Ok, I'm doing my first bloggy thing! I am jumping on the bandwagon and doing the 5 minutes for Mom blogging party!

Sure hope I linked the party site properly! Not so great with those html things...

Anyway, if you're stopping by for the party, hello! I consider myself pretty normal, somewhat funny, relaxed, honest, and a bunch of other wonderful qualities (and a bunch of not-so-wonderful qualities that we'll just leave out of this post, kay?).

How exactly do you write a blog for a party, anyway? Shall I just tell you how my morning is going so far?

Well, as I was sitting at the computer, exhausted from having a sleepover in our bed last night (me, Patrick and the boys) I got greeted by the baby holding a sopping wet towel. Hmmm... "Here!" she said. I took it and was so lazy that I just put it in an empty bowl and said thank you. I really didn't want to know where she got it from. (how bad is THAT?) Then, moments later, I hear Justin shriek, "She's on the TABLE!! She's on the TABLE!!" I run in and, sure enough, she's on the table, eating the remnants of Justin's cereal. And next to the bowl? A sharp steak knife. Just give me a heart attack right now, why don't you? So. We are now going to remember to keep the table clean (cleanish, at least). Oh, and the towel was wet cuz she knocked the cat's water bowl over and was apparently wiping it up. Whew. That could have been soooooo much grossser.

Oh, and I wonder: will there ever be a time in my life where I will be able to utter the sentence "Yeah! Let's watch Star Wars! It's been AGES since I've seen any of those movies!"

Not anytime soon....

I have had that knive moment. My little girl was sitting on the open dishwasher using a sharp knife to get cheese crackers from a box. My heart froze for a bit!
My oldest are nine and seven....life does get easier and fun!

What is it they say? "This too shall pass!" Kids sure do keep life from being boring, don't they?

Thanks for stopping by my place. Enjoy the party!

Your html worked...thanks for the nice welcome.

I remember those days....with fondness! Believe it or not...one day you will miss these frantic moments! That's not to say they arent' frustrating in the moment!

Glad you survived the morning...so far! We are snowbound this morning in Minnesota, after getting more than 20 inches of snow in 24 hours! So I'm sitting still in my p.j.'s and robe, laptop in tow, and doing a little party-hopping. Hop on over to my party when you get the chance!

LOL That is too funny. I've had tired moments like that...where kids could come in & say just about anything & I would tell him "Yes, that's fine"...or "Ok...whatever"...and wake up to find I had given permission to something not so great! ha!

When my daughter was a toddler, I read somewhere that everything they go through from birth to death! is a phase. It'll pass.

For instance, there was a time when I had to rewind and restart the tape of the Little Mermaid a million times a day. Now, with her brother, it's the Polar Express. Honestly, it was a cute movie the first couple of times I saw it but...COME ON!

Now, though, I don't know if I even remember the words to all the Little Mermaid. Bet I do. When my daughter was little, my inlaws were here and my husband started to read Dr. Seuss's ABCs, and my father-in-law, across the room, recited the whole book. After about 30 years, he remember the book!

You'll have a time when Star Wars isn't on all the time!

Great to meet you. Thanks for stopping by. That knife story made me laugh -- it's good to know you're not alone in this craziness called parenting!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by! Sounds you have a lot of fun in between those moments of horror! Just browsing through your posts below; I've had to explain the "no boy/girl sleepovers" with my kids too. Two more years until my eldest is a teenager...

Wow, you sooo sound like me in a lot of ways!! Too funny!! The other day the beast was playing with something broken and I was too lazy to get up, I just kept telling her to put it down, until theFM finally saw her and went and got it from her...yeah, he wasn't too happy with me. Seriously she wasn't in any (real) danger. LOL

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Sounds like we're in a similar stage of life, though I have yet to experience the knife and table dancing days.

LOL! It's moments like those that age us! My husband always talks about the time he walked into the kitchen to find our then 2 year old had climbed up on the counter, opened a jar of peanut butter and dipped a butcher knife into it. He was squatted on the counter (in Mike's words: In Golem like fashion) licking the knife. EEEEEK!!!!

You could be writing about a day in my house! Thanks for stopping by my party.

Oh girl! I am with you 100% on the whole Star Wars thing! If someone is not watching a Star Wars movie, then someone is playing Lego Star Wars I or II) on the playstation, or playing with Star Wars toys, etc. Would that there were another girl in my house to share in the eye rolling with me, but alas, I am the only one!

My soon-to-be three-year-old "cleans up"her own messes occasionally which usually results in me having to clean up TWO messes! *wink* Kinda like my computer geek hubby - he's gotta fix whatever someone did to "fix" the computer before actually fixing what went wrong in the first place!

Glad to meet ya! Come visit when ya can!

I've tried twice now to post -- I think my invite to the party has been revoked!

But what I was trying to say was ah, the joys of parenthood, eh? Sometimes I think it's more fear! But that's what keeps it fun...and us on our toes!

Hello! So nice to meet you =)
I happen to be in IL myself - near Chicago =)
As far as climbing on the table, my 1 year old climbs everywhere. We have pulled knives, scissors, bowls, well, basically anything and anything from his little hands! I am so thankful he has not gotten seriously hurt yet. I'm pretty convinced he must have about 5 angels surrounding him at all times! =)
